Ongoing Support Programs
We firmly believe that sustained life change requires ongoing encouragement, celebration and accountability. This
support or mentoring requires an agreement between the client and a skilled, caring and dispassionate third party (the
advisor). Some OnCourse clients have such people already in their lives: childhood friends, a small group, a therapist, other independent professionals. A spouse or other family member is typically too close to you to be dispassionate; their own interests are linked to your situation. Using a medical analogy, an independent, professional
mentor is like a physical therapist who works with you after you've had a medical procedure to assure both ongoing healing and vibrancy, and the strength and well care to avoid future relapses.
Following either a Life Transformation Retreat or a Life Planning Retreat we encourage most clients to work with an OnCourse Associate for a minimum of
three months to sustain and reinforce the changes adopted at these retreats.
The Associate's support role is to:
- Help you define and refine your plan
- Make sure your plan is a "stretch" for you, while still being achievable
- Encourage you through the implementation of your plan
- Hold you accountable to meet measurable goals
- Guide you when you begin to "drift" from your plan; help you "shift" back on track
- Celebrate your successes.
As soon as possible we strive to "work ourselves out of a job." We guide you in establishing your own support and accountability network, while checking in with us for occasional, "well-care" visits.
