Every keynote address, workshop and breakout session by Jim Warner is tailored to the demographics of the audience. Jim works closely with the event organizers to understand the fabric and flow of the events and how Jim's addresses can best complement the event goals.

At the YPO Western Area Conference (Viva La Life! - Las Vegas, May 2004) Jim moderated the opening session, conceived and led a forum-like workshop and spoke at three breakout sessions. The abstracts for these sessions are given below and give you a feel for the types of sessions Jim can create with you.

Opening Keynote

When Life Deals You a Wild Card

Powerless, in pain, no apparent way out, sensing your life slipping away . you've been dealt the ultimate Joker, but this is no joke. In this riveting opening session, a Nobel laureate and a YPO couple describe how they recalibrated their lives and found untapped capacities for joy, after a life-transforming, head-on encounter with death. What will you do when you receive your inevitable life wild card; when that Joker lands in your lap and you can't think, talk or buy your way out? How will you react? How can you prepare? As importantly, how might you redirect your life NOW, so that gratitude, joy and real meaning are communicated in the present tense, and not just as a future hope?

Join us as we open the Viva! celebration of life in a blend of inspiring stories, a graphic video, a no-holds-barred panel discussion, and the opportunity to dialogue in forum-like groups on how you will prepare for and play the inevitable wild cards in your life.

Jim's First Breakout Session

When Having It All Isn't Enough

We have our names on the door, the vacation home, and the envy of our peers. Our net worth may be well into the millions. Our spouse is visible and vibrant, and our do-it-all kids are targeted for big things. Outwardly, we seem to have it all, but behind the scenes...

We spin in an endless cycle of obligations, lacking life purpose or peace. We feel driven to amass more wealth . because there is never enough. Our spouse and kids resent us for putting career ahead of family. We long for a spiritual connection, but don't know where or how to begin. We have few friends or mentors who will tell us the truth. Our lives may look good on the outside, but inside we're beginning to sense: I'm Stuck . This Isn't Working.

Dovetailing off the opening keynote, WPOer and Life Transition expert, Jim Warner, outlines the "stages of stuckness," and presents the common symptoms, patterns and stories of leaders and spouses who are navigating challenging life transitions. Based on his confidential and intimate retreat experiences with over 1,200 YPOers, and 200 spouses, Jim paints the path out of the stuckness, built upon a commitment of realizing core-level life transformation.

Jim's Forum Workshop

The Viva La Life! Forum Experience: An Inner Work Laboratory for Exploring Core-Level Life Transformation

Maximize your take-home value from the conference by participating in the Viva La Life! Forum Experience. Open to both members and spouses, the Forum Experience offers a focused opportunity for forging new friendships with YPOers and spouses from outside your own chapter.

We'll form confidential, forum-like small groups for in-depth exploration of Viva's rich educational sessions, and their application to our personal lives. Members and spouses will briefly share their backgrounds and areas / issues they would like to explore within the forums. Participants will then self-select into confidential forum-like groups (6 - 10 member / spouse participants per group) for professionally-facilitated discussions, exercises and personal sharing based on the conference themes of probing our inner landscape and fulfilling our life purpose.

Jim's Second Breakout Session

How Do I Feel Good Again? - Recapturing Lost Energy and Passion

"Everyone views me as successful, but my passion for life is quite low. I feel slow and sluggish. I'm going through the motions in my work and in my relationships. I don't seem to have any energy. If I'm so successful (powerful, wealthy, significant, in control), why do I feel so empty? How do I feel good again?"

Conventional routes to success often leave high-achieving people drained, disillusioned and cut off from loved ones - even if they achieve their "goals" - because the conventional road bypasses the inner journey. True, sustainable aliveness, grounded in an inner peace, can only be achieved by self-exploration, a commitment to total truth, and the intention to reestablish the precious flow of life through us.

This session presents the common ways energy, passion and joy get drained out of our lives, how to get them back, and how to amplify the flow of life into us, through us and out to others.

Jim's Third Breakout Session

The Search for Spirit: Stages of the Spiritual Pursuit

Jim will present the different approaches taken by YPOers and spouses in their spiritual lives. These include: Indifferent spectator, zealous fundamentalist, mainstream believer, angry or disillusioned victim, thoughtful seeker, hurting pilgrim and surrendered contemplative. You'll be asked to consider where you are in your own spirituality, how it's working for you, and where you want to be.

Jim will also present the five gateways to an aware existence - a full inner life - and how to conduct your own "whole life audit" - the test of a life well lived. He'll also offer a model for identifying addictions, navigating depression and pain, and receiving joy.
